April 16th, Dr. Ricardo told me
“I had a dream about you last night.
It was in a large studio and you were standing still,
looking at a wall where a large rug was in creation.
The rug was a dark red
with tones of deep blue and green.
As you stood there you told me a story
about the weavers flaw
and your concern about how to complete the piece.
I felt that your intuition already had the answer,
as always.”
June 19th Michael prosed
“I dreamed you painted a series entitled,
After the End of the World
But the images didn’t begin with the After;
rather,
they began within the moment of moments
Before.”
I vacillate between before the beginning
and after
Between anarchy and cave dwelling
I think in the language of fireflies
Moving from Island to Island
High key
Low Key
I hear us humans wandering
I hear an infinite hum in the universe
Michael knows
Suddenly I forget to blink
Between dreams and daydreams
I smell coffee on my Mother’s breath
Shoe polish on my Father’s tan jacket
Gasoline and grass
Apple juice and blood
Jeremy says
“When you are young,
You never know who your family is.”
Perhaps this is why I always return to the crust
To understand the stones
The earlier versions of my ancestors
Our fragile olivine origins
