I have been dreaming of lava and fire
The heights of Machu Picchu
Of that angst filled poem I wrote in my teens
The early poems
Songs of stones in the skies
Of the death of old life and the arrival of new
Empowered I now look to Isla Negra
That place where cupid was born and died
My notebook
The window that opens inward
My winter in Paris
And summer by the stream I have long forgotten
But I have not forgotten us
Those long dewy nights
Those stars and those passionate dreams
I still dream
I have been dreaming of lava and fire
I was born of this and so were you
Born of the broken cobbles and overturned roots
Where the sea became saltier and more hurried
Where light broke before dawn
At the cusp of bigger Sur
I was born on that road and the road beyond
And so were you
