Glaciers of the world are retreating as a result of global heating.

Scientists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) officially declared Popocatépetl's glaciers extinct in early 2001.

The small-size tropical glaciers of Popocatépetl volcano (Mexico) were unique, representing the only ice masses and natural “gauges” to study global warming at around 20° north latitude.

The beginning of darkness
Beyond my view it transcends
Pitching into blackness
Beneath
The turmoil begins
The space awakens into scapes and bluffs
Recessing cerulean
Acquainting itself with shadow
With the horizon draped in warmth
Here I remain
